Program Overview & Eligibility

The Franco-Thai Young Talent Research Fellowship Program aims at jumpstarting the careers of young researchers from Thailand and France by giving them the opportunity to develop promising collaboration with their counterparts.

The program supports Thai and French post-doctorates who are lecturers or researchers in public or private institutions, intending to conduct a research project of two (2) to six (6) months in a laboratory or research center in France (for Thai candidates) or in Thailand (for French candidates). Thai post-doctorates must have graduated in 2021 onwards; French post-doctorates in 2016 onwards and must collaborate with institutions in Thailand. All fields of research are considered, and selection is based on the criteria of excellence.

Candidates currently enrolled as PhD students must complete their PhD by February 2026, before leaving for France or Thailand.

This program is a joint initiative co-funded by Thai (PMU-B) and French (Embassy of France) parties, and operated by Campus France. Project proposals in the priority research fields below are highly encouraged.

  • A round-trip ticket from Thailand to France
  • A monthly living allowance of 1,800 €
  • OFII and visa fees
  • Health insurance coverage for the duration of the stay in France
For French researchers coming to ThailandFunded by PMU-B
  • A monthly living allowance of 1,800 €
  • A one-time lump-sum of 2,000 € covering the round-trip ticket, domestic transport, and health insurance for the stay in Thailand

French researchers — visa requirement: To obtain a Non-Immigrant (RS) Visa, comply with the “Regulations on the Permission for Foreign Researchers to Conduct Research in Thailand B.E. 2550” and submit forms NRCT-01 and NRCT-07 (project summary in Thai) to the National Research Council of Thailand. Forms: foreignresearcher.nrct.go.th — submit via frm@nrct.go.th at least 90 days before your start date.

Selection Process

The selection committee evaluates applications on the following criteria:

Special consideration is given to applicants who have secured additional funding for their project and who hold positions as lecturers or researchers in public or private institutions.
